Sydney Metro City & Southwest

As Australia’s biggest public transport project, the Sydney Metro will significantly change how people move around Sydney. The City & Southwest line runs from Chatswood through Sydney’s CBD to Sydenham and then out west to Bankstown. 

The new “turn-up-and-go” metro services are fast, reliable and Australia’s only fully accessible and driverless train service. On the City & Southwest metro line, trains will run every four minutes during peak hours. 

The APP Group provided Transaction Management services for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, acting as Transaction Director for major procurement processes. The project team delivers Strategic Advisory services, including legal financial, technical, operations and project controls. We provide advisory services including management, coordination and facilitation of evaluation processes, strategic advice and knowledge transfer.  

In partnership with SMEC, our team acted as an Independent Certifier for the Tunnel and Station Excavation contract of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project. We provided independent assurance and compliance services for 15.5 kms of new twin rail tunnels, including a new crossing beneath Sydney Harbour.  

In addition, we were appointed by our client, MTR Australia, to deliver procurement management services for the $3.7b Trains, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (TSOM) contract augmentation. After negotiating and signing contracts with Trains and Signalling contractors, our team achieved an overall contract and financial close in December 2019.  

MTR is the Integrator for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, in partnership with principal contractor NTR Group, and Metro Trains Sydney as the Operator & Maintainer contractor.
